BayView State School is located on just under 7 hectares of land with 760 students currently enrolled in the school.
There is one main sports oval, Multi Purpose courts, three adventure playgrounds and other open grassy areas which allow students to extend their physical skills and build their strength as they take part in our Perceptual Motor Program (PMP), and move through the year levels. In 2014 our new multipurpose hall opened, housing a full-size basketball court, netball court and 3 badminton courts.
Other buildings on site in addition to our regular classroom teaching spaces include the Discovery Centre, which houses our library resources and Inquiry area, the Advancement Centre, the Quest Centre (purpose-built science and technology labs), our Languages Other Than English (LOTE) room, our Out of Schools Hours Care (OSHC) space, Café and Uniform Shop, Grounds-care sheds and our Corporate Services (administration) building.
The school minimises its environmental footprint through being built to the Four Star, Green Star Environmental Rating. This includes strategies such as the passive, thermal cooling of well-planned buildings. In excess of 100 000 litres of harvested rain water has been utilised for irrigating our landscaped gardens and for supplying toilet facilities. The school also has a bank of solar panels which is connected directly to the power grid.
BayView has a small vegetable patch, a worm farm and composting bins, with classes responsible for maintaining and managing these areas.
